Video game developer From Software and publisher Namco Bandai have announced that their Dark Souls title has managed to ship 1.5 million units all over the world since launch.

The game appeared first in Japan, exclusively on the PlayStation 3, with more than 370,000 copies sold since September 22, while in North America the game arrived on October 4 and managed to move 620,000 units, both on the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

In Europe the game also pushed out 470,000 copies while in the rest of Asia, which is well known to be plagued by piracy, it only managed to sell 40,000 disks.

Dark Souls is designed as a hardcore experience which pushes even the best players to the limit of their abilities with complex mechanics and some pretty unforgiving enemies.

Since launch the game has received a few patches, designed to eliminate some issues with the multiplayer and rebalance some of the abilities of the player character.
