CyanogenMod, one of the most popular custom ROMs for Android devices, might soon be loaded on its own-branded smartphone, as the team behind the software has started to partner with various vendors out there.

According to a recent report from Phandroid, a CyanogenMod smartphone is indeed in the works, and it will hit shelves with some appealing hardware specifications packed inside.

Apparently, the handset will be powered by a new 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8974AC processor, which should be more powerful than the 2.4GHz MSM8974AB Snapdragon 800 CPU from the company.

The mobile phone is also said to have been designed specifically for the CyanogenMod software, which means that it won’t be just another device supporting a custom ROM.

Chances are that Oppo will manufacture the aforementioned smartphone, given that its Oppo N1 officially offers support for CM, though no confirmation on the matter has been provided as of now.
