The first release of CyanogenMod 7.1 for the HP TouchPad tablet PC is now available, bringing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system to a device that was launched on the market with the webOS platform on board.

The release is only an alpha build, which means that there are a lot of bugs in it. The performance of the device won't be too high either.

Of course, there still are various issues that need to be resolved, as well as features to be added into the mix, yet those who would like to see how things are at the moment can already do so.

All those who will install the Android OS on their HP TouchPad will do so at their own risk, not to mention that the move will void warranty. More on the Android port for HP's tablet in the video above, or on RootzWiki here.
