If you're the owner of a Crucial SSD from the M4 series, you should rejoice, as new firmware is up for grabs and we also have it for free download.

The new SSD firmware reaches now revision 000F and brings some generic improvements that will add both functionality and reliability to everyday use. With the M4 SSD units being targeted for the consumer range, constant improvements in their firmware are more than welcome.

One of the highlights of the 000F firmware is the enhanced compatibility with SAS expanders and numerous RAID cards, while the throughput stability has been dramatically improved for the heavy load scenarios. Users can now expect better performance from their Crucial M4 drives even in those situations where older firmware was not acting at its best.

The niftiest improvement in the 000F firmware version is represented by better data protection offered by the M4 drive "in the event of unexpected, asynchronou power loss." The current firmware revision is recommended for all the drives in the field and the upgrade process is a single-step one, using the Crucial Windows 7 Updater Application.

As with pretty much any firmware upgrade for storage, users are advised to back up all the important data. Download the Crucial M4 SSD Firmware 000F.
