Nintendo announces that its Club Nintendo service has been hacked by an unknown group and that all those who have accounts should go to their profiles in order to change passwords.

Kotaku has translated an announcement from the Japanese website of the company that explains some details about the incident.

Nintendo says that between June 9 and July 4, 23,000 unauthorized log-in attempts have taken place.

Club Nintendo does not store credit card information for its users, which means that the data has not been compromised, but the attackers could have obtained names, addresses, e-mail data and phone information for most users.

It’s unclear whether Nintendo has any plans to compensate players in any way for the problems linked to the hacking incident.

Ubisoft has recently also been affected by an attack on its uPlay service, which has led to a password change request as well.
