If the previous version of Catalyst display driver hotfix got you confused, AMD wants to set the record straight: it has released 12.6 stable and 12.7 beta packages, no more beating around the bush. Neither is for Windows 8.

12.7 beta driver brings mostly game performance improvements with up to 25% in Skyrim, 3.3% in Battlefield 3 or 6.5% in Batman: Arkham City, along with Diablo 3: Anti-Aliasing feature correction and Skyrim screen flickering issue resolved.

On the other hand, 12.6, which is WHQL certified, comes with new application profiles and, among GPU and system stability issues fixed, one resolved graphics driver vulnerability.

Discovered by CERT/CC (Carnegie Mellon Computer Emergency Readiness Team), and announced by us on June 11th, the issue addresses a conflict between AMD display drivers and Microsoft EMET, leaving systems vulnerable to potential threats. The issue has been patched by AMD as promised.

Make sure you check our website or AMD’s release notes for a full list of changes and resolved issues that are included in both 12.6 and 12.7 beta drivers.
