Cesar Stastny, who is the director of technology working at developer Treyarch, has announced that the upcoming PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II will offer support for dedicated servers.

Earlier during year, the development team was not sure of what position it would adopt on dedicated servers, but it seems that the chance to get into the eSports world was important in making it available.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was created by Infinity Ward, shipped without dedicated servers on the PC and many fans of the series reacted strongly to their omission.

The first Black Ops allows players to use them and that brought Treyarch significant support from the public.

Activision and Treyarch have not yet announced whether they are ready to also extend the Elite service to the PC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be launched on November 13 on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
