A new flavor of the BlackBerry Maps application is now available for download for the owners of BlackBerry 10 or higher devices, namely version 10.1.0.805.

The new application release is said to bring along a variety of stability and performance improvements to devices, despite the fact that it is only a minor release.

According to CrackBerry, the update could hint at an upcoming OS upgrade for BlackBerry 10 devices, although nothing has been confirmed on the matter for the time being.

The BlackBerry Maps application was designed to provide users with fast navigation capabilities, straight from their smartphone’s screen.

“Maps on BlackBerry 10 keeps you moving. It provides 2D maps, local search and powerful 3D voice guided turn-by-turn directions— just like an advanced GPS navigation system - but for free. You can also save your favorite places and access and share them from other apps like BBM and SMS,” BlackBerry notes.

The new BlackBerry Maps 10.1.0.805 was released in the BlackBerry World, yet it might not appear as available for all users out there yet.
