It's not just PETA, other animal rights groups are also angry with the 15-year-old

This past March 6, 15-year-old Bindi Irwin, the daughter of famous wildlife enthusiast Steve Irwin, made an appearance on “Good Morning America,” and announced to the world that she had entered a partnership with marine park SeaWorld.

As part of this collaboration with the marine park, Bindi Irwin is to act as an ambassador for SeaWorld, and promote an initiative dubbed Generation Nature.

According to SeaWorld, this campaign boils down to getting young people, especially kids, involved in protecting wildlife and the ecosystems that support it.

Bindi Irwin appeared on “Good Morning America” together with her mother, Terry, and her brother, Robert. Apparently, Terry and Robert are also ready and willing to support the marine park's Generation Nature initiative.

What's more, all three are besides themselves with joy at the thought that, by working closely with SeaWorld, they will be able to help protect the world's remaining wildlife population.

“We are so thrilled to finally be joining SeaWorld on a brand new initiative called Generation Nature, which is all about encouraging kids to get involved and be game changers for wildlife and wild places,” Bindi Irwin said while on the show, as cited by Ecorazzi.

Shortly after the 15-year-old announced her partnership with the marine park, several animal rights groups lashed out at the teenage girl, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why.

Thus, what really pushed animals rights activists' buttons is the fact that Bindi Irwin, together with mom Terry and brother Robert, have agreed to team up with SeaWorld despite the fact that, as shown by documentary film “Blackfish,” this marine park is guilty of horrific animal abuse.

Then again, PETA argues that, since Steve Irwin himself was no protector of animals, it should not come as a surprise that his daughter is now teaming up with SeaWorld.

“The Irwin family has been exploiting animals for years, so it comes as no surprise that Bindi has agreed to become SeaWorld's latest shill,” the activists said in a statement, as cited by E! Online.

“By plastering her face on SeaWorld's website won't cover up the fact that orcas, dolphins, and other animals are suffering in SeaWorld's tiny tanks after being ripped from their families,” PETA went on to argue.

Hoping to convince Bindi Irwin to cut all ties with SeaWorld, animal rights activists have started an online petition which aims to raise 17,000 signatures by May 1.

The petition was started just a few hours ago, yet it has already collected over 16,800 signatures, so there is little doubt that quite a lot of people do not want Bindi Irwin to be an ambassador for the marine park.
