The development team at Quantic Dream and publisher Sony announce that they are setting the launch date for their title Beyond: Two Souls for October of this year, exclusively on the PlayStation 3 home console.

The two companies are also confirming that Willem Dafoe, the actor best known for his roles in Platoon and the more recent Antichrist, is joining the cast of the video game.

He will be playing Nathan Dawkins, a scientist working for the United States government who is helping main character Jodie to analyze her unique situation and powers.

The first released gameplay trailer shows Dawkins meeting a younger version of Jodie.

Beyond: Two Souls is designed around the concept of emotion and the mysteries that surround life and death.

Quantic Dream is also working on a new game engine for the PlayStation 4.
