The Evil Within is the new survival horror title from Shinji Mikami and the team working on the game says that the entire experience is set to be pure and will not favor the action-driven features that have recently become prevalent in the genre.

Jason Bergman, a producer working on The Evil Within, tells Gamereactor that, “You're going to spend much time looking for objects, bullets, syringes ... that is essential to survive in the game, every bullet counts.”

Mikami wants to see players actually scared because they might not survive and the gameplay mechanics are designed to create an atmosphere of terror.

When a gamer finally uses a resource, he might see it spent without any result, with a headshot failing to take down an enemy and leaving him exposed.

The Evil Within will be launched in 2014 on the PC and home consoles.
