Battlefield 3 has shipped more than 10 million units for its release this week, setting a new record for its publisher, Electronic Arts.

Battlefield 3 was eagerly awaited by lots of people, and EA highlighted earlier this week that pre-order figures were close to the 3 million mark.

Now, during its financial earnings call, via Industry Gamers, EA mentioned that more than 10 million copies of Battlefield 3 were shipped all over the world, in order to ensure ample supply for gamers interested in the new shooter.

While sales figures aren't available just yet, what with Battlefield 3 releasing today, October 28, in Europe, EA CEO John Riccitiello noted that sell through tendencies were strong, while the company's COO, Peter Moore, said this was the biggest one-day shipment the company had ever had.

While 10 million copies have been shipped, it's safe to say that at least 3 or 4 million units were sold, as of right now. Expect more official sales figures to be disclosed next week.
