After the Battlefield 3 open beta stage closed its doors at the beginning of the month, Electronic Arts and DICE have published a handy infographic detailing some of the most impressive numbers gathered from the test stage and highlighting that more than 8 million users joined it across the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

Battlefield 3 is eagerly awaited by a huge amount of first person shooter fans, especially since many are wondering if it can beat Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for this year's shooter crown.

In order to convince even more people of its worth, EA and DICE, the two companies behind Battlefield 3, kicked off a special open beta stage at the end of September, that ended on October 10.

Now, all the data has been gathered by the Swedish studio and the result are quite impressive, to say the least. According to the infographic released by the two companies, more than 8 million people took part in the beta stage and over 47 billion shots were fired.

A lot of other interesting figures were extrapolated from the beta stage, which you can enjoy both in the list below as well as in the infographic above.

47 billion shots were fired - If you could travel one light year for each of those bullets, you'd reach the end of the known universe. Everyone who played assault contributed 2.2 billion regenerated health points, just a bit more than the number of people who use the Internet. 19 million people lost their dog tags at the end of a knife - That's just more than enough for every person in Shanghai, the world's most populated city. 21 million M-Com stations were destroyed, the number of active Twitter users. 635.6 meters was the distance from where the longest sniper headshot was recorded. 1.5 billion kills were registered, more than half the number liters of beer consumed around the world in 2011. 8,125,310 users played the Battlefield 3 open beta - That's enough people to fill New York city. With such a massive interest in the open beta, it's pretty clear that Battlefield 3 will experience some big sales once it's released on October 25, in North America, and October 28, in Europe, for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
