Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer announced yesterday what seems to be one of the most important reorganizations in the company’s history, with the focus now on devices and services.

Since some high-profile executives have received new roles within the company, it’s only natural to expect more changes when it comes to employees too.

Still, Ballmer claims that no layoffs will be included in the reorg and, what’s more, Microsoft might even hire new employees to support its cloud efforts across the world.

Ballmer explained during a media and analyst conference call after the announcement that Microsoft is actually very keen on maintaining its current workforce, no one would be fired.

“We have no plans for layoffs. We certainly want to extend what we’re doing,” he was quoted as saying by Neowin during the conference call.
