The official “BBC News” application for Android smartphones has just been updated to support Android tablets. The application now runs on large tablets powered by Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb and above.

The application’s design has been optimized to look well on larger screens. Tablet owners will be able to browse in both landscape and portrait views.

With “BBC News” readers will be able to arrange stories in categories such as top stories, UK, world, politics, business, technology, health, entertainment & arts and sport.

It is also worth mentioning that developers promised the Live News Channel feature in a future release, along with home screen widgets.

“BBC News” application is now available as a free download in the Android Market and is fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up.
