Ubisoft has confirmed some technical details about Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag on next-gen consoles i.e. the PS4 and Xbox One, as the game has a locked framerate of 30fps on both devices but will run at 1080p on the PS4 (thanks to a day-one patch) and 900p on Xbox One.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is one of the many cross-generation games that are coming out this month for the PS4 and Xbox One.

The stunning open world game already impressed on the PS3 and Xbox 360 last week and Ubisoft is shipping it as we speak to stores for the next-gen consoles.

Now, the publisher revealed on the UbiBlog that the game runs as standard at a 900p resolution on both the PS4 and the Xbox One, coupled with a 30fps framerate.

However, thanks to a day-one update for the game, Black Flag will run natively at 1080p on the PlayStation 4.

"If it’s running at 720p vs 1080p, you’re going to notice the difference, by far," Associate Producer Sylvain Trottier explained. "But if it’s set at a resolution that’s very close, where most of the pixels are already there in internal processing, most people won’t see any difference."

What's more, the day-one patch for Assassin's Creed 4 will also introduce a special anti-aliasing technique which should cut back on the jagged edges of different visual elements.

"The most important part of this title update is not necessarily 1080p native resolution," he added. "It’s the fact that even when we were done with the project, even when we were finished with the certification and everything else, even when most of the engineers had started to work on other projects – like we always do at Ubisoft – some of my engineers continued to work on Black Flag and they even developed a brand-new anti-aliasing technique."

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will also be released this month on PC and Wii U.
