Apple is offering students the unique chance to win a free ticket to WWDC 2013 to show off their coding skills and learn new stuff with the best of them. 150 seats are open.

“We want to reward creative, talented, and outstanding student developers with the opportunity to attend this year’s conference on a WWDC 2013 Student Scholarship,” Apple states on its Developer site.

To be eligible for the chance to win a free WWDC 2013 ticket, you must be a full or part-time student, 13 years of age or older, and you need to be an active (registered) Apple Developer.

“You will need to provide proof of enrollment from your school when you submit your application,” Apple says.

You’ll need to create cool apps to catch Apple’s eye, but not without following some strict guidelines. No surprise there, considering how they run their App Store business.

“Use your creativity and coding skills to build an app that tells us about you,” Apple continues.

“Your app should highlight development projects you’ve worked on, your educational and professional background, technical skills, and interests.”

A student developer will need to submit his / her application beginning April 29, 2013 at 9 a.m. PDT. The last app to be approved will need to be sent in by May 2, 2013 at 5 p.m. PDT.

“Submissions will be judged on technical accomplishment, creativity of ideas expressed in the app and essay questions, and technical/work experience,” the company adds.

In case two student devs are stuck in a tie-in, Apple will decide which of the two deserves to move forward by looking at “the creativity of ideas expressed in the Student Scholarship application.”

In other words, applicants will also need to submit an essay of sorts. Good luck to all the students out there with high hopes of making it into the coding business!
