Last week, Google officially announced a new service for the owners of Android 2.2-based devices, namely Android Device Manager, and the company has just made it available for users worldwide.

The service is offered for free to all and should make it easy for users to locate misplaced or stolen devices through a web interface.

Furthermore, it also provides the owners of such devices with the possibility to ring their smartphones or tablet PCs at maximum volume, even if they were silenced.

At the same time, the Android Device Manager portal enables users to erase all data on their devices, provided it cannot be retrieved. Thus, one can ensure that personal files do not end up in the wrong hands.

Users interested in taking advantage of the new service should head over to www.android.com/devicemanager for that.
