Two days after RadioShack debuted its “Fresh Phone February” trade-in program, AT&T announces that it has signed an agreement with FlipSwap, a major retailer specialized in buyback programs, to bring a new, similar service to its customers.

Unlike RadioShack's trade-in program that only offers the HTC EVO 4G or EVO Shift 4G for a $50 discount, AT&T's program is more complex, as it includes both services and a wide range of products.

Starting February 13th, FlipSwap’s trade-in service will be launched in all AT&T stores. Customers who wish to turn in old phones will receive an AT&T promotional card in return, which reflects the device’s trade-in value and condition, which will be determined by FlipSwap.

This is a new option we’re bringing into our stores to offer even more value to our customers,” said John Dwyer, senior vice president, Retail Sales Operations, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

Customers can now trade-in phones they no longer need and use the trade-in value to offset the expense of their new device or other services. We’re excited to make this available across all of our company owned stores,” continued Dwyer.

Furthermore, customers can use the AT&T promotional card to offset the cost of some of the latest devices available from the carrier or to purchase any other product or service.

For those who are afraid that their handset is too old to be accepted by AT&T, the carrier stated that all phones, regardless of manufacturer or date purchased, will be considered for trade-in.

AT&T representatives in any retail store will also provide customers with all the necessary instructions and forms needed to prepare and package their device before mailing it to FlipSwap.

However, the AT&T promotional card won't be given on the spot, as customers will have to wait for two to four weeks to receive it in the mail, as soon as FlipSwap receives the device and verifies its condition.
