Remember ASUS’s Transformer Book T100 2-in-1 machine? The device is actually a Windows-based tablet coming with a 10-inch display that ships with a detachable keyboard dock at a very acceptable price.

With a price-tag of $399 / €289 or less, it’s no wonder the hybrid has swiftly gained popularity with users around the world.

Apart from being cheap and portable, the machine also offers a long battery life, even if the keyboard dock doesn't have an additional battery hiding at its core.

But one of the disadvantages of the Transformer Book T100 was that it didn't come with a lot of storage space. In the US, for example, the tablet was available with only 32GB or 64 GB of flash storage.

But those left craving for more in terms of storage capabilities should be happy to hear that a new Transformer Book T100 version which has 500GB of extra storage living in the keyboard dock is now available.

The same configuration has been available in Europe for some time now, but only now can US customers pick up a similar variant from online retailers such as Amazon or Newegg.

The new ASUS Transformer Book T100 with 500GB hard drive can be currently purchased for $400 / €289, but if you choose to shop with Newegg, you can get a $25 / €18 discount via the coupon code: PAXASUS25.

The extra 500GB is tucked away in the keyboard dock, but if you want to run apps only in tablet mode, you’ll have to install them on your SSD. On the other hand, the hard storage in the keyboard dock, can be used for music, movies, documents and other files that tend to take up more space.

However, if you don’t need the extra storage, it is still a good time to pick up the Transformer Book T100, the 64GB SSD version. Amazon is offering the device with $50 / €36 off, so you’ll be able to purchase it for $350 / €257 while Newegg is giving it off for $375 / €271.

As a memory refresh, the Transformer Book T100 draws power from an Intel Atom Z3740 Bay Trail quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and its 10-inch display supports 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. The 2-in-1 also ships with Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Student 2013.

Anyway, if these specs look a little bit outdated, you might want to wait a while, because ASUS is expected to soon introduce a new model running a faster Intel Atom Z3775 processor.
