It seems like the Texas-based fabless CPU and GPU designer AMD is moving towards a fast adoption of the Piledriver enhanced Vishera cores. The company sees no point in continuing to manufacture any Bulldozer-based processor and they are planning a quick phase-out for the ill-fated architecture.

The Piledriver-based CPUs are simply faster and it’s most likely that they also have better yields because of the improved thermal characteristics and the new frequency mesh.

AMD’s 8-core FX 8150, 6-core FX 6200 and quad-core FX 4170 are reportedly scheduled for EOL in December of this year.

December 2012 is the month AMD will accept the last orders for three models and Q1 2013 is the time when customers should expect the last shipments to come.
