Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry has been long rumored to plan the launch of a new high-end BlackBerry 10 smartphone that would also sport a large touchscreen display, and some more info on the matter has emerged.

The device, supposedly known internally under the codename of Aristo, is expected to land on the market with a 4.65-inch touchscreen display, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Furthermore, the device is said to arrive on shelves in time for the holiday season and to be capable of delivering a full HD resolution, which should make it more appealing than rival devices.

Apparently, the mobile phone maker initially planned a 1280 x 720 pixel touchscreen for the smartphone, but has changed its mind in the meantime, and has boosted it to 1080 x 1920 pixel.

In addition to the large Super AMOLED display, the large smartphone will include a quad-core 1.9GHz Qualcomm Krait processor inside, while pairing it with 4GB of RAM, an article on thegadgetmasters claims.

A 3000mAh battery is also expected inside the phone, to ensure enough usage time, especially since most of the internal hardware was boosted after RIM originally started working on the device.

Rumor has it that Aristo will be the first smartphone from BlackBerry to arrive on shelves with a quad-core processor inside, and that it should deliver appealing performance capabilities, especially since the BlackBerry 10 platform has been optimized for multi-core performance.

Overall, the new BlackBerry 10 smartphone should be able to compete with high-end Android smartphones out there, especially courtesy of the aforementioned quad-core processor.

Rumors on BlackBerry’s plans for the launch of large smartphones have emerged before, yet nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter until now.

However, it seems that the company is indeed planning the launch of more powerful, multi-core smartphones, the same as the BlackBerry Z10, which arrived on shelves with a dual-core CPU. More info on this should emerge soon, so stay tuned.
