Star Kiefer Sutherland and movie studio couldn’t agree on key issues, like money

Rumors of a “24” movie have been around since before the successful TV series bowed out in 2010. Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”) was supposed to direct it but, as per his own words, the project is dead in the water. Officially so.

Speaking with IndieWire, Fuqua notes that scheduling issues and other disagreements have virtually made the film impossible. But money played a vital role, as always.

“I don't think it's gonna happen at all, definitely not with me. I met with Kiefer (Sutherland). Fox wanted to do it. It was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show (‘Touch’),” the director says.

“I don't think he was able to get a proper agreement with FOX. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing,” he continues.

Reports online claim that Sutherland wanted more money for this film than the studio was willing to pay, and this is the main reason they could not see eye to eye.
