Android users planning to switch to an iPhone and the other way around is something that makes total sense these days, especially because each platform comes with its very own focus that may or may not be everybody’s cup of tea.

And new research conducted by Beyond Identity shows that Apple’s investments in privacy and security on the iPhone is working like a charm, as quite a lot of Android users are planning to switch sides and give up on their smartphones.

When asked about the security of their operating systems, 76 percent of the Apple users said they are comfortable with their iPhones, whereas the percentage dropped to 74 percent in the case of Android.

Interestingly, the security of the operating systems makes 36 percent of Apple users consider switching to Android, whereas only 25 percent of the Android users are thinking of getting an iPhone.

“While newly released operating systems often come with improved security features, Apple's upcoming release of iOS 16 is what led 33% of Android users to consider switching to Apple. The release introduces extreme security features designed to protect users from highly targeted mercenary spyware, including "Lockdown Mode," which strictly limits or completely shuts down apps and protocols that can put the user at risk of cyber attack,” the study reveals.

Overall, however, Beyond Identity says 49 percent of the Android users are ready to go to team Apple “due to the perceived superiority in security and privacy.”

“Despite the massive financial and market-share-based success of Android phones, the iPhone reigned supreme in terms of security according to users. People with iPhones reported fewer breaches and more instances of retrieving their stolen or lost information,” research shows.

The survey included a little over 1,000 American users, out of which 498 of them used iPhones.
