An Amy Winehouse "Baby Vodka" Moment
Drug addiction is not in any way funny, however in Amy Winehouse's case we could say that there are some slightly ridiculous - and therefore also slightly hilarious - aspects about the singer's personality that could, in the appropriate set of circumstances, be seen as a reason to laugh. For just a little while, before getting depressed about the way in which one of the most talented jazz singers in the world is throwin ... [read more >>]

Beyoncé's Sister Hints at Possible Pregnancy
By some sort of miracle, almost a week after Beyoncé's rumored wedding with hip-hop artist and successful entrepreneur Jay-Z, no one who attended the mysterious April 4th ceremony has blabbed about what went on inside. Although members of the R&B singer's family have been in contact with the press, whenever the controversial "did they or didn't they" subject cropped up, they would all become mysteriou ... Being Born Bottom First is Inherited
About 3-4 % of the human babies are born bottom first. This is the rule in the case of dolphins and whales, as the newborn would drown otherwise, by taking the first breath underwater, but in humans this doubles the risks of complications for the baby (especially of breathing problems at the moment of delivery). A new study published in the British Medical Journal shows that this type of birth is an inherited trait from either ... [read more >>]

Android-like Robot Soon to Talk to Us
According to University of Hertfordshire professors Chrystopher Nehaniv and Kerstin Dautenhahn, from the School of Computer Science, in the close future we may find ourselves surrounded by robots bearing human features. The first step in developing such machines is the robot created by the University of Plymouth, which will be presented on ITALK or Integration and Transfer of Action and Knowledge in Robots convention that has sta ... Mine Is Better Than Yours...
It seems that the baby race has gotten to a new level of craziness – and no, it's not a joke or some more news about half a dozen more A-list celebrities being pregnant. No, this time it's all about the popularity of celebrity babies who are already part of our ever-changing world – more specifically, about Nicole Richie and Christina Aguilera's newborn kids. It's common knowledge that both these famous ladies ... [read more >>]

Angie Plans to Practice Her French Skills
Angelina Jolie must really be having the time of her life right about now. No, no, she's not off saving the world again, posing for shots among ruins and soldiers in a country torn by war and poverty – not that there's anything wrong with that. But since she's all pregnant again (and back to making the "big" headlines every day), there seems to be a renewed surge of interest in all her exploits, and many ... [read more >>]

My, Those Chi-Chis Look Impressive!
Christina Aguilera sure loves showing off her boobs. I mean, really – she must be really proud of the fact that they've pretty much doubled in size and are much more... er, perky I could say. The fact is, Christina took her boobs live on Ellen yesterday, and the world stopped. No, I mean that quite literally. It was one of those moments in which the whole world goes quiet, pretty much like you see in all those Asian horror films. We s ... [read more >>]

50 Years Old Fathers Deliver Healthier Children than Teenage Fathers
It is said that younger parents deliver healthier babies. But this new research, so far the largest of its kind, and published in the journal Human Reproduction, shows that teenage fathers present a higher risk of having ill babies, the issues varying from pre-term delivery or low birth weight, to death in or near the time of delivery. Oppositely, older fathers, aged 40 and over, did not have a higher risk of unhealthy babies. T ... [read more >>]

Fergie Knocked Up?
A couple of days ago, I was asking myself (rhetorically) whether the voluptuous beauty that is Fergie is "cool" - that is, popular – again. And the answer, or so I thought at the time, was "yes". I really don't see the point of going into further details about what makes Fergie appealing to which particular age groups, because then things might turn ugly and you'd probably end up accusing me of holding a grudg ... Christina's Pregnancy Boobs Live On!
Christina Aguilera sure is a sight for sore eyes these days. The singer, who gave birth to her son Max three weeks ago, is now coming back on the big stage – but baby steps is the way to go, and it's nice to see Christina taking things slowly. Trouble is, it's hard for the rest of us to keep our eyes off the singer, for two reasons: one is her face, and the other one is situates slightly below her face and is... ahem, staring us ... Babies, Gossip and Bright Red Lipstick
It's been a week since Nicole Richie and Christina Aguillera gave birth, and here come the inevitable "blow by blow" accounts of what happened while these two ladies were having their babies – reportedly just two doors apart in the maternity ward at Cedars-Sinai. As we all know by now, Nicole has a baby girl and Christina has a baby boy, and since we're sure they're all safely healthy and happy (probably starting t ... [read more >>]

Nicole Disses Paris. The End of the World Must Be Near...
This is a good one, people! Now, hands up those of you who would ever have imagined Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton's best friend and occasional friendly enemy, would end up turning into a saint? Well, a baby can really turn a woman's life around, and it seems to have been the case for the feisty, petite daughter of Lionel Richie. Ever since she got pregnant, Nicole has apparently ditched her old ways and has become a much more respo ... [read more >>]

Nicole Richie and Christina Aguilera Gave Birth!
Remember I've been telling you that there's an epidemics of sorts going round Hollywood? That's right – all the A-list ladies (and not only) have been getting pregnant, and in all the craze about who's pregnant with whom, how far along and whether it's been conformed or not, I sort of missed the joy (and relief) of announcing that finally someone has had a baby. Well, you know what they say - it never rai ... [read more >>]

Monkey See, Monkey Do: Paris Hilton Wants a Baby
That "monkey" reference in the title of this article wasn't an accident, y'all. I'm talking about Paris Hilton here, so you see, the connection is pretty much obvious. Plus, it's the truth: some monkeys function on that principle, and I'm totally being metaphorical here. The whole thought process goes something like this (put in very simple, Paris terms): heiress sees on/off friend pregnant and about to h ... [read more >>]

An 8 Kg (17 Pounds) Newborn Girl!
You or somebody you know may have weighed around 7 pounds, 1 ounce (3.2 kg) at birth. So say the medical books. But this comes to contradict them: in a small Siberia city, a 17-pound, 1 ounce (7.7 kg) baby girl has just been delivered by Tatiana Khalina, 42, the mother of other 11 children. The girl was born on September 17, 2007, through Cesarean section at a maternity clinic in Aleisk, a city of 30,000 people in the Altai r ... [read more >>]

Madonna's Newest Album Out in November
Since 2003, Madonna has had all sorts of musical ups and downs, being especially loved by the media. She also started some scandals, most notably through the political overtones of her 2003 album, "American Life", which was a commercial failure but was hailed for its innovations and courageous anti-war themes. Her remix EP released soon after was also a flop but that did not discourage her at all. Despite these minor ... [read more >>]

Jordan and Peter Andre Have Bunny Issues!
Peter Andre was famous back in 1996, when his album went to no.1 in the UK charts, but after that, his fame faded away, like that of so many other one-hit wonders. What put him back into the spotlights was a British reality TV series called "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!", where he constantly flirted with Katie Price aka Jordan, with whom he married soon afterwards, and adopted her child from a previous affair. More Vitamin B9, Less Diformed Babies
You can eat as much meat, green vegetables, fruit, whole grains as you want, but it seems that even so there is not enough folic acid (vitamin B9) for a pregnant mother and the child she's carrying. A team led by Dr. Philippe De Wals of Université Laval’s Department of Social and Preventive Medicine has shown that the addition of folic acid to flours has induced a 46% decrease of the cases of congenital neural tube deformation (es ... Jordan Thinks Her Newborn Daughter Is Ugly
It's been only five days since Katie Price (aka Jordan) gave birth to her third child. But good things can never last long, even for newborn babies. I pray to God that, years from now, Jordan's daughter does not read somewhere that her mother thought she was an ugly baby. Because that's exactly what that dimwit true dumb blond did. All you parents out there, you should really be the judges of what this British g ... [read more >>]

Four-Month Babies Can Distinguish Between Two Different Languages
Adult people need to hear a language to make the difference from another. But scientists have discovered that four-month old babies can distinguish between different languages just by looking at the facial movements of the speaker. Even when babies watched video recording with the sound switched off, they were able to make this difference. The "visual speech" ability could be important in language learning and appeared to be r ... [read more >>]

Why Is a Mother's Milk Better Than Formula Milk?
You know that colostrum, that yellowish milk secreted after birth, boosts life in you, as it is a package of immune factors. And there's nothing better than maternal milk for the newborn. But now, in many western countries, less than 1% of women breastfeed exclusively for the first six months. The Infant Feeding Survey reveals that in 2005, 76% of UK mothers started out breastfeeding. But most women resort to formula ... [read more >>]
