Bill's remarks were totally offensive. His apology would not be sincere
so I don't know why he should even bother making one.
The pope was a member of the Hitler Youth, this is true.
Membership for German youth was mandatory. All other groups were banned by the Nazis and it was difficult for a young boy or girl to avoid
joining since intense pressure was placed on both the child and his parents. This was not a free society. Bill Maher just displays his ignorance. But, that seems to be typical of people like him. For leftists liberals the Catholic Church is fair game. I wonder if he would criticize Islam and Islamo-fascists as quickly.
