Installing Ubuntu 7.10 - REPLY TO THIS OPINION

I have a Hp pavilion a305w.
Does Ubuntu 7.10 work with HP hardware?
I can not get Ubuntu to install on my system.
Current System
Intel Celeron(R) 2.70GHz
RAM 1.49GB
Graphics Card ATI Radeon X1300 256MB
After Unbuntu loads into my system memory my monitor goes blank
and my CDRom drive stop reading and/or processing the Unbuntu
installation CD.
