Soon, Apple might make official a successor to the iPad mini, and photos with what appears to be the shell of the second-generation 7.9-inch Apple tablet have emerged online.

Available courtesy of Sonny Dickson, said images unveil the rear aluminum shell from all angles, providing users with a close look at all of its design details.

Supposedly called iPad mini 2, the upcoming device should sport rear housing similar to the one available with the first-generation tablet. The top of the shell features a strip of plastic, which should offer better connectivity.

As PhoneArena notes, there seem to be no changes when compared to the shell included on the iPad mini, and chances are that this will be the final design that the device will feature.

However, iPad mini 2 should pack hardware enhancements when compared to the original, such as a Retina display and more.
