The development team at inXile is busy with the final days of the Kickstarter effort for Torment: Tides of Numenera, adding more options for those who are interested in backing the video game project and launching a new video that details companions.

Torment: Tides of Numenera now has 54,000 backers, which means that another area in the Castoff’s Labyrinth is unlocked and that a third cult is available to interact with.

The team states, “we are making the Printed Novella Compilation available as an add-on. This includes the novellas by Monte Cook and Colin McComb, as well as the From the Depths five novella compilation.”

Mur Lafferty also talks about the companion design for Torment: Tides of Numenera and how their motivations and aims will determine how they react to the player.

The video also offers more clear info on two of the companions that inXile is currently working on and how their various abilities and backstories will influence the way the game progresses when they are working with the protagonist.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is also being readied for a GOG launch, with no attached DRM.

Those who are interested in getting access to more physical objects linked to the game will also be happy to learn that inXile is preparing to introduce a backer-only store.

Kevin Saunders, the project lead working on Torment: Tides of Numenera, also says that the team plans to host a big party celebrating the end of the Kickstarter drive and that fans will be able to attend as long as they register on the official site.

The new inXile project has more than 3 million dollars (2.15 million Euro) that it can use during the development project.

The game is set to be a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, using many of the same themes but a new universe and mechanics.
