Country singer Taylor Swift won her first Video Music Awards Moonman on Sunday, at the 2009 ceremony, for Best Female Video. As she took to the stage to thank the fans who voted for her, she was rudely interrupted by Kanye West, who took the mic from her hand to address the crowd and say Beyonce should have won. Taylor talked to reporters after the award ceremony and said she was no longer upset about the interruption, Us Magazine says.

The young singer told the media that she did not mind having Kanye West on stage with her that much, but she did mind not being allowed to talk because the one thing she truly wanted to do was to thank all her fans and those who had supported her and, this way, made her win possible. However, since Beyonce called her up on the stage and let her finish her speech, she was no longer upset – and certainly not holding a grudge against Kanye.

“Well, I was standing on stage because I was really excited because I had just won the award. And then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that.” Taylor told the media after the VMAs. Since the incident, she’d been getting massive support from fellow celebrities and fans alike, the singer also said. “I’ve been getting so many text messages and everybody’s been really nice. So I’ve had a really, really fun night. It’s been interesting definitely. It’s definitely been an interesting night.” Taylor explained.

As for the moment Beyonce called her up on the stage when she was supposed to be delivering her speech for winning Best Video of the Year, Taylor said she didn’t know what surprise the “Single Ladies” diva had in store for her. Of course, this is not to say she did not appreciate the gesture – on the contrary, it was the one thing that turned the entire night around and made it fun for her.

“They told me to stand by the side of the stage, and I didn’t really know what was going to go down. But I thought it was so wonderful and gracious of her to do what she’s always done. She’s always been a great person before anything else. Before the talented artist, the superstar, she’s always been a great person and I just, I thought I couldn’t love Beyonce more tonight, than tonight.” Taylor said. “I don’t know him [Kanye West], and I’ve never met him, so... I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.” the singer concluded by saying.
