DarkGod, the lead developer of the ToME (Tales of Maj’Eyal) project, proudly announced a couple of days ago, December 31, 2012, that the final and stable 1.0 release of the Tales of Maj’Eyal game is finally available for download.

Dubbed "And the Sky Full of Stars,” Tales of Maj’Eyal 1.0 is finally here after three long years of hard work, bringing a stable and complete release of this open source rogue-like RPG game.

“Nearly three years ago I uttered those same words when releasing the first beta of ToME4. Before that there were 20 closed alphas and since then 43 betas and 4 RC releases, all played and loved by an increasing number of players, now over ten thousand.”

“Today is payoff time! For three years I have worked extremely hard on this game because I fell in love with it and I am blessed because others did too: great, fun, nice people; some of which also helped in the making of the game; each in their own way. To them, and to all my players, I send a huge "Thanks, I love you girls and guys!”” was stated in the official release announcement.

ToME features tactical turn-based combat and advanced character building. Players will be able to explore random dungeons, fight challenging battles, while developing strong characters using one of many unique classes and races, all in the lore-filled world of Eyal.

Tales of Maj’Eyal is not only free and open source, it is also a cross-platform game, which can run on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows operating systems.

Tales of Maj’Eyal 1.0 can be downloaded right now from its official website. It is also available on Steam Greenlight, and, if you vote it, the game will also be launched on Valve’s Steam on Linux.
