Just in time to make speculation that Sony deliberately “leaked” the first red band trailer for “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” comes the first official, green band video. You can see it below, embedded at the end of the article.

Over the weekend, when all was quiet on the film front in the US thanks to the Memorial Day Weekend, a trailer was uploaded on YouTube: a red band trailer for the much-hyped Hollywood remake of the film based on Stieg Larsson’s trilogy.

As hours kept going by and viewers came by the thousands to see it, speculation picked up that Sony itself was behind the so-called “leak,” which it used to drum up publicity for “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara as leads.

As SlashFilm points out, the new green band trailer comes just in the nick of time to make said rumors go away – mysteriously, the red band video is no longer available online.

“Now the green-band version, which is basically the same as the previous one, has landed a couple days early. It was dated for 6/2, and this is more than likely another leak. But this cat is way, way out of the bag at this point,” the e-zine says.

It’s similar to the previous one, except that it doesn’t show images that would make it unsafe for work (or other similar respectable environments), like shots of Mara’s body and images of Craig coughing up blood and being covered in it.

Other than that, the trailer really brings nothing new to the table aside from an enhanced viewing experience for fans, thanks to the higher quality.

“This is a much better quality version, so you can both see the great many flash-cut images in far better detail, and enjoy the unusual cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Immigrant Song’ in better quality,” SlashFilm says.

“You’ll get a much better sense of how the footage is cut to the song, and the sense of inevitability that comes via the long tracking shots down snowy roads is really tangible. In general, this offers a much better sense of the visual control in the film, if not of the performances. But that will come,” the e-zine adds.

“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” also dubbed “the feel-bad movie of Christmas” by Sony, arrives in theaters on December 21. Check out the official trailer below.
