Always with his eye on the hottest musical appearances and the most potentially bankable singers, Simon Cowell has made an offer to none other than “Twilight” star and singer Robert Pattinson. Admittedly, word of the offer is already out and now, several major record labels are waging a bidding war over which one gets to sign him, The Sun informs.

Given the source of this, perhaps Pattinson’s upcoming record deal should be taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, The Sun claims to have it from very reliable sources that Cowell, head of Syco, has kept an eye on the British star’s career so far. Moreover, he is convinced he could turn in the big bucks, which is why he’s already offered Robert a record deal, along with a blank check that he can fill in with the amount he deems appropriate.

“Robert Pattinson has been approached by Simon Cowell to sign a major record deal. The young actor has been told he can basically write his own check. To make things even sweeter for Robert, other record companies have got wind of the offer and a bidding war has broken out. Robert, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, is a keen musician who plays piano and guitar,” The Sun writes, after speaking with several sources well familiar with the situation.

There is a problem, though: Robert is very serious about making music, which is why he’s rather reluctant about taking Cowell’s office on the grounds that he deals mostly with pop music, the same tab goes on to say. Nevertheless, Cowell has also launched the careers of Leona Lewis and, most importantly, Susan Boyle, so perhaps Pattinson doesn’t really have to worry about having his unique sound compromised to be more mainstream, it is also being said.

“Robert is reluctant to be turned into a pop star – and takes his music very seriously. He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with X Factor and pop,” an unnamed spy reveals for The Sun. Keep an eye on this space to see what becomes of this.
