"Carrie Bradshaw" exposes her love for exquisite designer gowns in the pages of the iconic fashion magazine

As expected, Sarah Jessica Parker was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the June 2008 cover of US Vogue. Her fans will undoubtedly be delighted to see their favorite New Yorker sport a series of dazzling gowns and striking a variety of romantic poses with her on-screen lover and potential husband-to-be, Chris Noth (a.k.a. Mr. Big). However, as "Carrie" is carelessly fooling around in her show-stopping designer gowns, a series of slightly more down-to-earth questions come to mind - such as, exactly why she landed the coveted cover alone when the movie it refers to is centered around the friendship between four equally stylish and fashionable women.

But that, as my mother would say, is a question for the ages. The only answer that comes to mind is that Parker is the one with the largest amount of previous media exposure of the group, and the one with the most ties with the fashion and beauty industry through various endorsement deals. She's also probably the one with the most aggressive, skilled or street-wise personal agent - in the end, what matters is that she got to strike cheesy poses alongside Chris Noth and we get to devour her designer gowns and shoes. And since it's Vogue we're talking about, there are plenty of those around.

On the cover, Parker can be seen comfortably sitting down in between the legs of an unknown man, whom we can presume to be none other than Mr. Big himself, although his face cannot be seen in the photo. She is wearing a fabulous Versace gown and matching high heels, and striking a very interesting pose that doesn't entirely seem to suit her. Among Carrie's other choices of couture is a sea-foam green Nina Ricci silk-satin dress with matching shoes which we unfortunately get to see only from the back, as Parker's face is turned towards her smiling companion, an Alexander McQueen peacock lace-and-tulle dress (the shot by the column), a purple Marchesa satin-organza dress (the one with Chris Noth holding the camera) and a Dolce & Gabbana gown (the shot on the stairs). Have a look and stay tuned for more Carrie / Vogue fashion updates - coming soon.
