It appears that China, Taiwan and Hong Kong are the main targets for Motorola's new handsets, as the company has recently introduced its affordable Motorola XT316 Android smartphone in all three countries.

The next device that might be introduced in the aforementioned markets is the splash and dust resistant Motorola EX232 feature-phone.

Motorola Mobility has just announced the availability of the EX232 in Hong Kong. The phone is now available at all major retailer outlets and authorized sellers for a suggested retail price of HK$999 (about $125).

The phone features an attractive and durable design and offers users the certainty of a rugged device that does not get damaged when it is dropped in a pool.

With the Motorola EX232 we wanted to bring young people a touch screen experience that was stylish, affordable, and tough enough to keep up with energetic lifestyles,” said Ritchie Ma, general manager for Motorola Devices, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Motorola EX232 comes with a main 2.8-inch QVGA resistive touch screen and a secondary OLED monochrome display with 96 x 96 pixels resolution.

The secondary display is mainly used as a notification screen that highlights important information like incoming messages and information on currently playing music tracks.

Furthermore, the candybar phone sports a sub-par 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, FM stereo w/RDS and MP3 player.

It packs 128 MB of RAM, 64 MB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16 GB).

The Motorola EX232 has integrated social media and dual screens so you can keep up with what matters to you, and splash and dust-resistance so you can get into the action without worrying,” added Ma.

The EX232 features 3G support, Chinese handwriting, Chinese stroke input, Pinyin and English, and comes with a stylus in the sales package for handwriting input.
