14 DAY TRIAL // Nothing better and more subtle to promote your new movie than a viral photo that, apparently, has very little to do with the movie and more with how awesome its leading man or lady is. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows all about the power of promotion by word of mouth, and in the process, he’s killing us all with cuteness.
This Friday, July 25, 2014, the actor has a new movie opening in theaters in many territories, the highly anticipated “Hercules: The Thracian Wars,” in which he plays Hercules himself.
Because he’s done all the “traditional” type of promoting (i.e. press and TV interviews, random appearances, etc.), The Rock is now going for the jugular with this heartwarming photo you can also see in full by clicking on the image above.
It came with the caption “When a 2yr old asks HERCULES to play patty cake on set.. well.. he plays patty cake. #HERCULESMovie,” and it shows The Rock in full Hercules costume (including body makeup to hide his tattoos and rather questionable wig and fake facial hair) playing with an adorable blonde girl. She’s probably the daughter of some staffer on set.
Don’t let yourself be fooled into thinking The Rock is releasing a photo snapped months ago just now as a coincidence: this is a deliberate move to get you interested in the film by pulling on your heartstrings (cause of death: overdose on cute).
It’s probably working too.
