14 DAY TRIAL // The other night at the People’s Choice Awards 2014, Demi Lovato won Favorite Female Artist but she was not in attendance, which means she didn’t walk up on stage to personally collect her award. However, that doesn’t mean fans should bash her for it, she says on Twitter.
The awards show aired live on CBS and, right after the fans realized Demi wasn’t there for her big moment, they turned on her on social media. They probably believed she owed them as much, since they had voted for her and made her a winner.
However, Demi writes, these people aren’t even proper fans, they’re just people who believe they’re entitled to say anything they want about her online.
“Damn… Just hopped online to check twitter and some ‘fans’ are being really mean :( I’m not at the PCA’s because as I have stated before, I’m taking as much time off this month as possible. I haven’t taken a substantial amount of time off in a long time and now I am. Thank you for those who voted and understand why I am away,” she writes.
“There are ‘fans’ who say they support me, then they hate on me, my personal life and my loved ones.... And then there are my LOVATICS!!! THEY are the BEST fans an artist could ever ask for.... I LOVE YOU!!! Btw - the #FavoriteMusicFanFollowing isn't even my award.... It's YOURS!!!!!! Thank you for voting so hard!!!!!” the diva continues.
In all fairness, Demi has long informed fans and the media about her plans to take some time off after a very busy period, which saw her record new music and come out with an album, but also be a judge on the US version of X Factor and tour.
If there’s anyone who deserves a break, it’s definitely Demi. You also have to admit that she makes a valid point when she says her real fans would understand why she opted to sit out of the People’s Choice Awards.
