Fans have been rooting for Leonardo DiCpario to win an Oscar for at least the past 4 years, so it’s no wonder they went completely berserk when they saw the Academy nameplate above, during a CNN segment on the upcoming March 2 edition of the prestigious awards show.

As you can see for yourself, the plate reads “Academy Award to Leonardo DiCaprio, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ 2013,” which seems to hint that he will win – finally!!! – the Oscar for Best Actor.

However, before you get ahead of yourself like everyone on Twitter did the moment the photo emerged online, consider this from a press release from the Academy in 2010:

“In preparation for the night, the Academy will create 197 nameplates, one for each 2009 nominee in every category. The engraving will include the nominee’s name, category, film title and year. After the winners have been announced, the unused nameplates will be recycled.”

In other words, everyone who’s nominated gets a nameplate. Whether he or she actually receives it on the big night is an entirely different matter. Plus, voting for the Oscars hasn’t even begun, so it’s not like we can have Leo as winner already.

It was nice to dream, though, even if only for a short while.
