As expected, Ubisoft has just released the companion application for its first title in the new Watch Dogs IP. The application is called Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS and is available for free, though you should check out its hardware and software requirements before downloading it.

Unlike other companion applications for triple A games, Watch Dogs ctOS allows users to play with it even if they do not own the game on PC or console.

You can play with other players that are already logged into their console or PC Watch Dogs game, which means the app will require a stable Internet connection. Basically, you can play live with any Watch Dogs player that owns the game, as long as you connect to uPlay.

For those out of the loop, here is a short description of what Watch Dogs has to offer in terms of story: “as a ctOS Operative, you will have control of the Chicago Police and control of all ctOS devices across the city. The streets of the city become your ultimate battleground where your goal is to stop players and maintain order.”

Keep in mind that in order to take advantage of all the features the application has to offer you will have to connect with other players that own the console or PC game. In fact, this is a mandatory requirement, as you can only play against human players.

You can either play with your friends or with other players around the world. Android users will also be able to customize their own challenges and send them to their friends.

Players who successfully hack other players will be able to advance and improve their skills. Gaining XP and skill points is only possible if you win challenges against other players. The skill points will allow players to upgrade their police arsenal and ctOS powers.

You can now download Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS for Android for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be compatible with most devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.

As mentioned earlier, you will need a stable Internet connection in order to get the application to work. The official companion app also requires a Uplay account and a free Xbox Live and/or PSN account in order to play against players who own the game on the console.

Last but not least, Ubisoft confirmed that the Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS application is compatible with PC, as well as PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
