Microsoft has yet to unveil the official packaging for the latest iteration of the Office System, but it appears that company partners can always be trusted to do it instead. Office 2010 is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.com, and the website features images with the retail boxes for the successor of Office 2007. In the image on the left, you will be able to see the box art for Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010 and Outlook 2010. As you will be able to see, Microsoft has opted for simplicity with the new box art for Office 2010. The packaging for each component is in direct relation to the color style associated with the program. Furthermore, the retail-box design also features the desktop icon that customers will subsequently see as they launch the component after installing it on their computers.

As Microsoft confirmed officially, Office 2010 will be available for purchase on June 15th, 2010 for the general public. The latest version of the Office suite was released to manufacturing on April 15th, and is already offered to business customers worldwide.

“At the heart of Office 2010 is the idea that people need a productivity solution that allows them to work – in whatever capacity – from wherever they are. So when I hear you guys in marketing position Office 2010 as the ‘best experience across the PC, phone and browser,’ I smile because that was exactly the underpinning assumption we used to build the product,” Antoine Leblond, the engineering leader behind Office 2010, revealed.

“With features like configurable Ribbon UI across apps, conversation view and ‘ignore’ feature in Outlook, and improved interoperability for document formats, we put our customers in control of their productivity experience. So I feel comfortable saying that Office 2010 addresses the increasingly diverse workforce, gives businesses a means to improve productivity while controlling costs, and helps companies large and small better manage information overload,” Leblond added.
