Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has long been rumored to plan the launch of a Lumia smartphone packing a 41-megapixel photo snapper, the same as the Nokia 808 PureView last year. More info on the matter is now available.

According to a recent post on Chinese website mydrivers, Nokia is set to launch two versions of the aforementioned device, which is said to be codenamed Nokia EOS.

Expected to land on shelves as a flagship Windows Phone 8-based device, the new smartphone will make an official appearance on July 9, it seems, though only one of its flavors will be released at that time.

Supposedly called “EOS Version 1,” the device is said to sport a polycarbonate body, the same as previous Lumia handsets. However, it should be thinner than the Lumia 920, despite the aforementioned photo snapper on the back.

Unfortunately, details on what might become “EOS Version 2” have yet to emerge.
