5800 Star Trek Edition on the market, not in the movie

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia was reported not too long ago to come up to the market with yet another iteration of its popular Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset, namely a Star Trek edition of the phone. We reported back then that the new version would include a wide range of multimedia files meant to remind us of the movie series, and now there's a little more to be said on the subject.

When we reported about the Nokia 5800 Star Trek edition we weren't aware of the fact that a Nokia device would actually appear in the movie but now, after seeing Star Trek, we have to say it does. That wouldn't be a surprise when it comes to the giant phone manufacturer, as most of you should already know that the Nokia 5800 was first seen in the Batman – The Dark Knight movie, and it seems that yet another phone concept from the company, perhaps the Aeon, can be seen in the Echelon Conspiracy, where it takes center stage.

Although Nokia released into the wild, with the help of Phones4U, a limited number of 5800 Star Trek Edition handsets, it seems that the popular touchscreen phone does not appear in the movie, though a Nokia device does that for sure, as the company's logo can be clearly seen on the screen of the handset in a sequence in the film, when the young James Kirk is driving a car and receives a phone call, while a “modern” version of the well-known Nokia tune can be heard.

It is rather uncertain at the moment if the mobile phone maker it set to start again the promotion for a future high-end touchscreen device months before the phone would actually come to the market, but there are great chances that it will do the same as it did with 5800. Hopefully, the company will soon come to the market with yet another appealing touchscreen-enabled mobile phone, one that would complement its lineup, which includes devices like 5800 or the Nokia N97.
