Lumia 920, Nokia’s first Windows Phone 8 handset, is expected to arrive on shelves in China exclusively at the largest wireless carrier in the country, China Mobile.

No official announcement on the matter has been made available as of yet, but Huang Guoqiang, director of Nokia China, has reportedly confirmed the move in a post on a Chinese microblogging service.

China Mobile, also the largest wireless carrier in the world, will add to its offering a TD-SCDMA version of Lumia 920.

With over 680 million subscribers, China Mobile connects almost 70 percent of the country’s contact mobile users.

Nokia’s Lumia 920 is already seen as a great device, maybe the first Windows Phone 8 capable of challenging Apple’s iPhone, and a successful launch at China Mobile would help the Finnish handset vendor a lot.

When launched in China, Lumia 920 will pack a Qualcomm MSM8690/8260A chip, designed with support for the wireless carrier’s TD-SCDMA standard.

Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 smartphone is powered by a dual-core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon S4 application processor and sports a large 4.5-inch touchscreen display with PureMotion HD+ technology.

The smartphone also features an 8.7-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with PureView technology and support for HD video recording, as well as a front camera for making video calls.

Other specs of this device also include 32GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, NFC, GPS receiver, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and a BP-4GW 2000 mAh battery.

Running under Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 operating system, the handset also comes with support for thousands of applications, including some exclusive software coming from Nokia. Windows Phone 8 will arrive in China on shelves at other wireless carriers as well. In fact, Sun Yi, an executive from China Telecom, has already confirmed that, even if Lumia 920 wouldn’t be launched with this carrier, new handsets from Samsung and HTC would.
