The Windows Phone device will hit shelves at AT&T on April 8th

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is gearing up for the launch of its most advanced Windows Phone smartphone on the market in the United States, none other than the Lumia 900.

The handset arrives in the country through carrier AT&T and offers support for the company’s LTE network.

This is the first LTE-capable Windows Phone at AT&T and anywhere else in the world, and all parties responsible for its launch are set to hold a party this week to celebrate it.

The phone will become available for purchase on Sunday, April 8th, but Nokia is holding the launch party for it on Friday, in New York City's Times Square.

The event will kick off on that day at 7 PM, and will feature a “live performance with special guest,” as the invitation that WP Retail Insider published online shows.

Nokia made an impression with the launch of Lumia 800 in London last year, and is expected to deliver even more with the new Lumia 900.

In fact, the company already fired up the marketing campaign for this mobile phone, and will work together with AT&T and Microsoft to push the device to the front.

Clearly, Nokia is betting a lot on Lumia 900, their first Windows Phone to pack LTE connectivity and the newest flagship of the Lumia series.

Ever since announcing plans to adopt Windows Phone as the primary platform for its smartphones, the company has been losing market share, and Lumia 900 should help it turn tables.

Moreover, the phone is expected to offer Nokia the possibility to gain some more ground on the United States market, where its presence is not as visible as it should be.

The hype around Lumia 900 has been high and suggests that the device could easily prove successful, especially helped by Nokia’s advertising campaign. However, only users’ reaction to the actual hardware will show whether things will indeed turn this way.
