14 DAY TRIAL // We finally have some official information regarding the direction that Lenovo's tablet market strategy will take, not that the company is getting ready to do anything too drastic.
If Lenovo stands apart from the fold when the new wave of tablets appears, it probably won't be for anything other than the number of different models.
Even then, three isn't that high. Still, for a full trio of tabs to make their appearance at the same time is less than common.
Then again, that's not quite right. Only two of them actually qualify as tablets instead of smartphones: Idea Tab A2109 and A2107.
They feature “up to Android 4.0.” We hope that Lenovo won't actually allow tablets to leave its labs with anything less than Ice Cream Sandwich, but stranger things have happened.
IdeaTab A2108 has the purpose of providing “full size fun on a small budget” and measures 9 inches in screen diagonal.
Its native resolution is 1,280 x 800 pixels and there are two cameras available, one on the front (1.3 MP) and one at the back (3.0 MP).
The second tablet, IdeaTab A2107, is an “affordable palm-size entertainment” device with a 7-inch display (probably 1024 x 600 pixels resolution), 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
No clue on what insides the devices will have, but we can venture a few guesses, based on current products and expectations. Even on the smaller gadget, the central processor will be at least a 1.5 GHz ARM dual-core. On that note, there is little chance of the RAM (random access memory) being of less than 1 GB.
Finally, an important trait of the IdeaTab A2107, provided what we learned of is true, is that it has two SIM cards. Either that or there will be a special version for the Chinese market with this functionality.
