Surprises are being prepared for NFS fans

Racing games have always captured the imagination of a lot of players, because they have presented them with the chance to take some of the most powerful cars in the world and push them to their limits in adrenaline-filled racers.

For a long time, EA's Need for Speed franchise has dominated the genre, but with the last few titles, things haven't been going so well. A few months ago, the company announced that four more games would be delivered to fans this year, signaling that the franchise would spread out and offer specific titles aimed at specific gamers.

Now, Jesse Abney, the producer of NFS Shift, the upcoming title that is focused on a much more realistic simulation of racing, has talked about a few things regarding the game, which is currently produced by Slightly Mad Studios. He has gone on to say that the studio isn't “reating a sterile simulator however, rather a fun and authenticate race designed to replicate the True Driver’s Experience.”

He has then revealed that Nitrous upgrades will be available for players in order to tune their cars. “Nitrous will be a performance component to upgrade. It will also be tunable, but you should expect it to operate more like professional racing and not action racing.” He has also stated that drifting will be one of the key events in the game because of its popularity and importance in modern-day competitions. “Drift is a key aspect to our career event structure and is supported by the physics engine.”

Abney does not miss the opportunity to tease the big number of NFS fans out there, as when he has been asked if Formula 1 cars will appear, he has declined to comment and has revealed that surprises are being prepared. “We can’t answer this just yet, as we’re not talking about the car lists at the moment, but we do have some surprises and firsts for the Need for Speed series planned. Expect to hear about some of these very soon!”

All in all, NFS Shift is coming together quite nicely, and, up until now, has been one of the only titles that we know some concrete facts about, alongside the free-to-play NFS World Online game, which will be launched in Asia this Summer.
