Rumors on Motorola working on a tablet PC that would run under Google's Android operating system started to emerge quite a while ago, and latest news on the matter suggest that things might actually prove real in the end.

Dubbed Stingray, the tablet, sporting the codename of Motorola MZ600, has been spotted in Verizon's internal systems, suggesting that the carrier should indeed be the one to bring it to the market, just as previous rumors suggested.

According to a recently leaked shot of Verizon's internal systems, which emerged into the wild over at Phandroid, the slate is expected to land at the carrier as itself, as a demo unit and as a dummy unit.

For what it's worth, this is not unusual, as many devices make it to carriers' stores this way, with units to be showcased to users, and actual devices to be delivered to them.

While no specifications on this device emerged for the time being, previous reports were meant to unveil some details on the matter.

The upcoming Motorola Android tablet should pack a Tegra 2 chip inside, while sporting a 10-inch display and running under the Android 3.0 Gingerbread operating system.

One thing that hasn't been confirmed so far is the name under which this device should land on the market, as Stingray might be a codename in itself too.

According to Phandroid, we might learn that Verizon launched it in its DROID series of devices, especially since the line already proved highly successful.

However, chances are that this won't be the only Android-based tablet PC Verizon has in store for its users, and the carrier might very well consider putting these devices in a separate series.

Previous reports suggested that the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Tab slate might also make an appearance on the carrier's network, and other similar devices might also land there soon.

One way or the other, it seems that Motorola is set to bring its own tablet PC on shelves at Verizon, and what remains to be seen is when that would happen, so keep an eye on this space for more.
