Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility and wireless phone carrier China Mobile have just announced the release of the first dual-core TD-SCDMA 3G smartphone in the country, the MOTO MT870.

The new device will arrive on the market with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, as well as with support for Motorola and China Mobile’s new, combined Mobile Market-SHOP4APPS application store.

Via SHOP4APPS, users will benefit from a great deal of applications and services that have been designed specifically for the Chinese market.

The mobile phone sports a large 4-inch qHD screen, along with the aforementioned dual-core application processor running at 1GHz, as well as with support for great mobile browsing on the 3G network that China Mobile operates.

MOTO MT870 arrives on shelves with an innovative design, Motorola notes, adding that users will be able to enjoy two color options when it is made available.

“Our partnership with Motorola has a long and successful history, and we are pleased to collaborate with Motorola on the launch of MOTO MT870 and this brand new app store,” said Sha Yuejia, vice president of China Mobile Communications Corporation.

“Like Motorola, China Mobile is also committed to enabling better user-experiences through better software, and Mobile Market-SHOP4APPS offered the perfect opportunity for us to collaborate.”

The specifications list of the new device also includes 8GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The handset sports built-in GPS receiver, along with Adobe Flash multimedia full web browsing, an 1880 mAh battery with power management, POP3/IMAP4/Exchange support, 3D games support, and more.

On the back, the mobile phone sports an 8 megapixel camera with built-in LED flash and HD (1080p) video recorder. Photos and videos shots with it can be easily shared with friends and family as the handset sports HDMI output, DLNA and WLAN capabilities.

Motorola’s goal is to bring the best mobile experience to all users around the world,” said Sanjay Jha, chairman and CEO of Motorola Mobility, Inc.

“China is our second largest market in the world and we have a tradition of creating premium devices and premium experiences specifically for Chinese people. The launch of MT870 and our joint app store with China Mobile is a great way to continue this tradition.”

The new MOTO MT870 is expected to become available for purchase via all authorized Motorola resellers and via China Mobile’s stores in the country in July, featuring a price tag of RMB 4,680.
