They play (Foster) brother and sister on Showtime’s critically acclaimed and highly popular “Dexter” killer series, but, in real life, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are husband and wife. They eloped in 2008 after dating for over a year and, if reports cited by JustJared are accurate, they are now preparing for their first child.

As fans must know, the actor was recently diagnosed with cancer, a battle he won. Now back to work on “Dexter,” Michael is reportedly thrilled by the idea of becoming a father. Both he and Jennifer are preparing for a family, it is being said. However, how Jennifer’s showing belly will impact her involvement in “Dexter” as the foul-mouthed Debra Morgan remains to be seen – granted, of course, that reports are accurate and she is, indeed, set on getting pregnant.

“Michael C. Hall and his wife and co-star, Jennifer Carpenter, may be ready to add a member to their family! The 39-year-old Dexter star and his wife are ‘all set to start trying,’ a source tells In Touch Weekly. Now that Michael’s cancer was successfully treated with chemotherapy, the source says, ‘Jen is taking prenatal vitamins and reading every book about babies she can get her hands on.’ For more on Michael and Jennifer’s baby hopes, pick up the latest issue of In Touch Weekly!” JustJared writes citing the US glossy.

Then again, this could very well be a rumor without nothing to fall back on, which usually happens whenever a hyped production is about to premiere – in this case, we’re talking season 5 of the show. Speaking of which, just recently, the Los Angeles Times ran a lengthy interview with Hall, in which he addressed questions ranging from his character’s evolution towards humanity to how he could relate to the serial killer he portrayed in front of the cameras. As regards the latter question, the actor stressed that all of us have dark secrets that we like to keep hidden from the world – they just don’t involve killing people.

“There is some sort of undeniable development or progression toward humanity, but I think that every step he’s taken on that front has been a pragmatic step, one that he needed to make in order to continue to live a life that allowed him to indulge in his primary compulsion. Yes, I think undeniably Dexter is someone who has taken unique responsibility for his darker impulses, not killing indiscriminately. And does experience what seems to be a genuine connection to at least the children in his world. It has so much to do with the way Dexter frames it. He has to frame that progression and that learning and those different kinds of behaviors within a context that allows him to continue to do what he does without ending up in an insane asylum,” Michael C. Hall said about Dexter’s evolution, as we also reported at the time.
