As expected, Nokia has just announced the upcoming availability of its first Android-powered smartphone, the Nokia X. Surprisingly, the Finnish company has confirmed that it will launch three Nokia X handsets in the coming months, all of them with the same software configuration, but different hardware specs.

The lowest of the three, Nokia X comes with a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

It is also worth mentioning that all three smartphones run a special version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system with Nokia's Fastlane UI, which is currently integrated within Asha smartphones.

Furthermore, Nokia X sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display and a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back. It features Nokia Glance screen, screen double tap, tactile feedback and dual-SIM support.

The Nokia X will go on sale immediately in Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa for only €90 ($125) outright.

Next in line, Nokia X+ offers dual-SIM support as well, and packs the same version of Android with Fastlane UI on top. It is said to pack more storage and RAM, but no additional details have been provided yet.

The Nokia X+ will be available in the same markets as the X model beginning in early Q2 for just €100 ($135) off contract.

Last but not least, Nokia XL boasts a much larger 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display and packs a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The same features included in the Nokia X are available to XL users as well: Nokia Glance, Tactile feedback, Screen double tap.

The rest of the phone's specs are similar to the Nokia X, including dual-SIM support. The Finnish company has confirmed that the XL will be available for purchase in early Q2 for €110 ($150).

The Nokia X family of smartphones will provide access to various Android application stores, such as Nokia Store, Yandex and others, but not Google Play Store. Users will also be able to sideload Android apps via SD card.

It is also worth mentioning that Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL will come packed with various Microsoft services like Skype, OneDrive and outlook.com.

Nokia HERE Maps with true offline maps and integrated turn-by-turn navigation service will be included for free as well, along with Nokia MixRadio music streaming service. All devices are also pre-loaded with a variety of third-party apps and games.
